Innocent, Lively and Lovely Api-Miku

Yayoi Sakura’s MMD

Season II CONCEPT

  • To try various costumes on Api-Miku (Appearance Miku).
  • Hand maid feeling, like a cosutume playing salesgirl at the Comic Market.

Season II FEATURE

  • resizing body proportions
  • expanding the mesh area until the very limit
  • details (described later)

Feature -1. resizing body proportions

  • total balance: bit younger than original model
  • legs: shortened

Feature -2. expanding mesh area

In the new version, it’s enabled to responde with various costumes, such as ‘Shimakaze from Kan-Kore’, ‘Cherry boy killer’, etc.

Feature -3. adding shaping and refining on details

parts detail
shoulder・arms add curve
breast flattening
body ribs up, shaping abdomen muscle, navel up, shrinking pelvis
back shaping scapula, shaping the line of the back bone
hips shaping tailbone, tightened
legs naturalize the line of legs from gom boots like shape and flat foot

What I couldn’t write here, it’s done in its own way……

SeasonI SeasonII-β half and half

Season I(old ver), Season IIβ(trial ver), Season I / II (50%/50%)

Old model. Season I (2015~16)

Cocept
  • adhere to the form of the original model.
  • complement missing parts in a mechanical manner.

original model and SeasonI

This body mesh was made from shirt mesh……

Reflection points on Season I

Reflection point -1
  • Legs are unnaturally long
  • Roughly UV unfolding

school swim suits - seasonI UV folding

Reflection point -2

The total proportion of the old model seemd too much elderly. In SeasonII, I arranged the proportion to responde to its face look.

seasonI trial model seasonII-β

Season I(old models), Season Iβ(proportion changed), Season I / II (50%/50%)

Reflection point -3

The old model had a somothing sagging derriere. In SeasonII, it has been tightened.

Season I(old ver), Season IIβ(trial ver), Season I / II (50%/50%)

Policy on Season II

V4U Miku

keeping a flavor of the old model as much as possible,

  • make corresponde “face look/age” with “body look/age” in order to increase a range of selection on cosutumes.
  • refine details as well

Working process

improvement

Apply new proportion on Season I model

req:test and verify the new policy

res:OK. no probrem.

SeasonImodifyed SeasonI

Make a trial model with Season II specification

req:make an own body based on new proportion.

res:Seems, too much twist or edge, and it’s better to shorten abdomen area.

modifyed SeasonI trial model

Make a Season II-β ver. By modifying the Season I body

req:I put priority on keeping the original taste. So, I used the Season I model as a base model.

res:something squre or solid…

trial modelSeasonISeasonII-β

Gestalt collapse?

req:half and half between Season II-β and Season I by morph.

res:exactly!?

SeasonII-βhalf and half

Post processing

Though I had refined the mesh cleanly on the II-β version, it cllapses when morph(I version) is applyed.

→ fixed.

roughfixed

Useless effort?

1 When it’s put clothes on body, it doesn’t shows “change out of all recognition” as expected.

Shimakaze

I had turned this principal to advantage, I used to manipulate the form of costumes to change the looks of body proportion on old models vise versa…

2 The default rendering engine of MMD is not capable of expressing details newly atatched.

Frilled swim suits

Maybe SSS shader could solve this.
